Lauren Tarshis received her BA in Russian and English from the University of California, Los Angeles and her MA in English and History from the University of Southern California. She is a scholar in residence in UCLA's Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, where she teaches Russian literature and translation. She has also taught at UCLA; Emerson College; University of California, Berkeley; Dartmouth College; and Oxford University. Her research interests include literary translation, Russian literature and culture, authorship studies, feminist theory, and the history of Russian women's literary movements.
